Get to know Louis Puig

Louis Puig of Miami Florida is an internationally known entrepreneur and hospitality icon. Puig began his career approximately 40 years ago and has worked as a DJ, bartender, promoter, host, manager, operator, designer, builder, sound and lighting designer and installer. He has also designed, created, operated, and owned some of the most successful clubs and restaurants in Miami and South Beach. Puig is considered a revolutionary in the nightclub industry for his work in creating The Parkwest Entertainment Area in Downtown Miami. A once uninhabited and desolate slum area, Parkwest now reverberates with skyscraper condos and office buildings, the FTX (formerly American Airlines) Arena, upscale restaurants and nightclubs. Thanks to Puig's foundation Parkwest real estate increased from $30 to $200 a foot in just 5 years. For his entrepreneurial efforts in helping to create economic revitalization to Downtown Miami, the City of Miami proclaimed October 14 as Louis Puig Day.

Puig began his career in 1976 and worked almost and helped create some of South Florida's most popular bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. In 1994, Puig opened his own club, BAR 609 which was a feature of “The Real World Miami” on MTV. From there he continued to pioneer the Miami and South Beach nightclub industry. In 2000 Puig created the world-famous Club Space which has broken attendance and sales records for Nightclubs in the US and has won various awards for being the top dance club in the world. Space currently holds the title for the longest operating dance club in South Florida. 2005 Puig became designer, partner, owner and operator of Spirits Nightclub at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

In the past decade, Puig was part owner of the Burger and Beer Joint in Miami's Brickell District and Bodega and Ricky's in South Beach as well as Spin, Cameo, Mansion / Icon, Set and Mokaï. In 2013 Puig sold Club Space to members of the Opium Group. In 2015 he opened Heart Nightclub next to Space and in 2016 Heart was voted "Best Dance Club" beating Space, Story and LIV. In 2018, Louis Puig also opened the Wynwood Factory, setting the standard for multi-purpose nightlife establishments in Miami's trendy Wynwood neighborhood/arts district. Unfortunately, Wynwood Factory was forced to cease operations because of the COVID-19 emergency.

Puig is also known for producing events such as Ultra, Global Gathering Miami, The Heart Festival, Surfcomber Pool Parties, Independence, the Masquerade Motel starring the Swedish House Mafia, Enter starring Richie Hawtin and dozens of other electronic music events. No other Miami nightlife figure has owned, operated, or produced as many nightclubs and dance music events as Puig.

Puig is currently happily married to Corinne Puig and is the father of 3 very active and happy children. He also owns and manages various real estate projects as well as his father’s famous guayabera store on SW 8 Street, La Casa de las Guayaberas.
